About The Scar
The Scar won the 2001 Charles Comfort Award for Excellence in Figurative Painting at the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour annual juried Open Water show in Toronto. The Comfort Award is given at the discretion of the jury for an outstanding work.

The girl in The Scar represents the self-absorption of youth, the myopic nature of teens. She is sobered by what she sees as defacement - the scar on her eyebrow. Focusing on the scar, she can't see the larger truth: the scar is an essential part of her fascinating beauty.
